Parish Hall renovation

Alameda, CA

Christ Episcopal Church

The local Episcopal Parish Hall, previously a gymnasium, required updating to accommodate its ever increasing  children and youth program. This renovation would also allow for additional use by other groups as well as receptions and recitals. New doors provided natural light and ventilation. The generic ceiling grid was replaced with smaller tiles and accent lighting. Wall wash lighting was also provided along with storage. The change has been dramatic and the demand for the space has increased substantially.

The heating system and existing windows were updated for better energy efficiency. A “green” parking lot was also constructed, allowing rain water to run off into the soil between the pavers. There are plans for a future photo voltaic system on the roof to supplement the energy requirements of the campus.
